If you leave this place hungry you have a problem. Miss Cassie, the owner and the BOSS, makes sure every plate is loaded with food, enough to take home some for a couple more meals.

Today was my first visit to The Croaker Spot. My son and his wife had been raving about the place all week so they took me there for dinner today so that I could see what they were talking about. I had been forewarned about the amount of food you get so I did not dare try the 'all-you-can-eat' choice. I had a seafood platter with a choice of three types of seafood along with three!!! sides and cornbread. I chose fried flounder, crab cake, and grilled shrimp; and for the sides I chose collard greens, potato salad, and cole slaw. Well, my food came out on a big platter - and that was just the flounder and crab cake! Another small platter held my shrimp - 12, that's right a dozen, of the largest shrimp I have seen in a bit. The crab cake was HUGE and the piece of flounder was a bit hefty too. Each of my sides were in their own 'not-so-little' dish. Miss Cassie is not skimpy with the lemon either; something I find unusual in this area. Miss Cassie uses mostly fresh vegetables and she cooks them "just like Mama did".

My son and his wife had really raved about Miss Cassie's sweet potato pie but she did not have any today. In fact she did not have any desserts because she has found that people do not eat them. Well, after all the food on those platters there is absolutely no room for dessert. She did come up with a fantastic little dish - actually a large sundae glass - of vanilla ice cream with three cherries on top for the Green Beret Baby!!!!

There are lots of other things on The Croaker Spot menu that I am dying to try out - like the Pina Colada Cake and maybe some of those wings. I am really into seeing how many varieties of wings I can come up with so when I saw 'Carolina Wings' on the menu I had to look at the description. I could not believe my eyes; Four Golden Fried TURKEY Wings. Well, I never; but they sure do sound pretty darned good.

Me thinks Miss Cassie will be seeing more of me. Hope she does not run me off!! If you are in the mall area drop over to the Croaker Spot on the back side of Westwood Shopping Center and see what I mean. Bon appetit!
